After the first round of polling, we have our four candidates for the top winter sports athlete in the Capital District. Here are your four regional representatives:

Eric Egan (Shaker/Colonie hockey) -- One of the leaders on the Shaker/Colonie hockey team, the senior scored 16 goals and added 19 assists.

Nick Gallo (Schalmont wrestling) -- The freshman carried on the wrestling tradition started by his father, John Gallo, and his older brother, Vincent Gallo, by winning the 152-pound weight class at the Section II Division II championships and participating in the state tournament.

Alex Lednev (Bethlehem swimming) -- The senior capped a successful run through the Section II swimming season by winning the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard breaststroke at the Division I meet. Lednev earned both the Most Outstanding Swimmer and Scholar-Athlete awards.

Alex Luse (Saratoga hockey) -- The senior forward was named the Capital District High School Hockey League Player of the Year after leading the Blue Streaks to the Division I regular season title with 18 goals and 27 assists.
