Sports poll: Best CDHSHL Division I player

Reader poll

Who is the top CDHSHL Division I player?

  • Alex Luse (Saratoga) 1%
  • Eric Egan (Shaker/Colonie) 58%
  • Evan Van Epps (CBA) 41%
  • John Gosstola (Bethlehem) 1%

26822 total votes.

We had approximately 8,000 votes in last week's Spotlight Sports Poll about who is the best Suburban Council girls basketball player (Columbia's Amanda Batzold ran away with the title). Now it's time to turn our attention to the rink, where we have four strong candidates for being the top Capital District High School Hockey League Division I player. They are:

Alex Luse (Saratoga) -- leads the division-leading Blue Streaks with 16 goals and 24 assists in 19 games

Eric Egan (Shaker/Colonie) -- the senior best known for his exploits on the baseball diamond is making an impact on the ice, as he leads the Jets with 31 points (15 goals, 16 assists)

Evan Van Epps (CBA) -- one of the Brothers' primary offensive weapons, he has 11 goals and 20 assists in 18 games

John Gosstola (Bethlehem) -- the leading goal scorer in the league with 18 goals in 17 games, he also has 12 assists for the Eagles

Now that you know the stats, it's time for you to vote. We'll keep this poll open until midnight Feb. 8, so once you vote, you can tell your friends to get online and participate. Thanks for voting.
