Marshman's 26 kills paces Eagles

The Eagles (18-0) took the fifth game 25-15 to win the match and secure first place in the Suburban Council. The Plainsmen (16-2) won the first game 25-15 before the Eagles took the next two games by scores of 25-17 and 25-19. Shen forced a fifth game by beating Bethlehem 25-19 in the fourth game.

"These guys don't give up on games and have serious mental toughness," said Bethlehem coach Rick Arket. "They did what they had to [do] to pull out a win."

Mike Marshman had 26 kills and six blocks to lead the Eagles. John McCarty, Jake Abbuhl and Mike Carrk each had eight kills, Benji Federman contributed 46 assists and Nate Kane added eight defensive digs.

Bethlehem will be the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Section II Class A playoffs, while Shen will be the No. 2 seed. And Arket said his Eagles will need to make improvements if they are to repeat as Sectional champions.

"We need to improve our serving and our offensive effectiveness," he said.
